Charges for Mobile Phone Users will be Reduce: EU Telecoms Ministers

French Industry Minister and Secretary of State Luc Chatel recently announced, “We have managed to reach political agreement within the Council of Ministers” The minister is holding the current presidency of the EU. The news said by them at a meeting of EU telecom ministers.

The news was published in news.xinhuanet.com, “...On Sept. 23, the commission proposed a new Roaming Regulation that substantially cuts the cost of sending text messages and using mobile data services abroad in the EU, as well as extends the duration of the current Regulation of voice roaming charges from 2010 to 2013...”

According to the news European Telecom ministers are agree for reduce the charges for mobile phone users and want to boost competition in telecom markets in Europe. Further the news said, “The proposal is pending the endorsement by the European Parliament, which co-decides the new roaming rules with the Council of Ministers.”

Viviane Reding who is the EU Telecoms Commissioner proposed the council's endorsement and said, “This shows that where there is a common will, there is a swift EU way for action in the telecom sector.”

Further he said, "I look forward to discussing with the European Parliament" as "how best to protect European businessmen, tourists, students and other travelers from excessive SMS and data roaming charges."

It means it is clear that telecom industry not only the US and UK but also in all over the world is going slow down. They are reducing only to boost the competition in mobile phone market. Along with they want to give a stroke in mobile phone market. The surcharges will be reduced by telecom industries minister but what will be further by retailers, it is not decided.
