When 40 per cent of four to eight-year-olds have mobile phones, five-year-olds are demanding dangerous tattoos and calls are being made for new rules to outlaw the “pester power” of junk food outlets it’s clear who’s winning the generational contest.
Victory has come at a price.
Those with mobile phones are being turned into over-tired zombies, according to child psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg.
Parents who have already caved in to youngsters demanding their own mobiles are stupidly extending the privilege, letting them take the devices to bed, from where they often stay up till 3am texting their mates.
Little wonder they are semi comatose by the time they reach school.
