Regulatory duty on mobile phone sets withdrawn

ISLAMABAD: The government has withdrawn the regulatory duty on mobile phone sets and reduced the Customs duty on the sets from Rs 500 to Rs 250 per mobile phone. According to budget documents, the government had provided relief to companies wishing to invest in the telecommunication sector. Excise duty on mobile phone sets has been reduced at a rate ranging between 19 to 21 percent and SIM activation charges have been decreased from Rs 500 to Rs 250.
